Just Ask The Expert …
A few weeks ago my husband and I decided to re-landscape the entire yard. Yes – the entire ½ acre surrounding our house. We designed the layout, researched the plants for size and growing conditions, figured out a budget, and we were set! All that remained was the trip to the plant nursery.
As we gazed over the endless sea of plants and flowers, we were giddy to be together and doing something we loved so much. We strolled through each aisle of green, comparing our list to each plant we passed. We began to realize our plans were beautiful on paper, but in reality some of our choices were not going to work. There was so much to consider: location, sunshine or shade, height, width, growth rate, amount of water needed, etc. We tried to cover every facet before we went to the nursery, but it was impossible for us to know the details for every specimen, or which plants were available. As we began to listen to the employees at the nursery, we realized it’s far better to have the direction of someone who is an expert in that field. What took us hours at home was simplified to 15 minutes by a guy who already knows about these plants. He spends every day with them, caring for them, watching over them. He knows where they will grow best, what environment they need, and even what they will look like next year.
As I reflect on this scenario, it’s such a familiar story … Many of us are used to planning our days or designing our life as we see it should be. We struggle to figure out every aspect, some of us down to the very last detail. We want the picture we see in our heads … the one where everything is beautiful, just the way we like it. But there is One who is an Expert in the field of life. He has all the plans, all the details, all the right answers. He knows what will help us to grow more like Him, which environments we need, and even what we will look like next year. Just like the expert landscaper, God is just waiting to give us everything we need to be successful. All we need to do is ask.
Are you busy planning your today, and designing your tomorrow? Have you been lost in the details of it all? Won’t you ask the Lord for direction, and let Him show you the best plan for your day, the right plan for your life?
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5

In addition, I think it is a great idea to send out an alert e-mail when you have posted something so people will be able to comment soon after your postings. We love and miss you guys.
